Darrell loved his little brother Dean. Dean Ryan died young of cancer. It was always a really difficult thing for Darrell to handle. In their teen age years, Darrell and Dean would pool shark down at the billiard hall in Downtown Norfolk, Nebraska. The two brothers were best friends.
